A very Traditional Carpenter
Hello, I’m Tim@Carpenter24, timber-frame carpenter and carpenter-nomad for nearly four decades: twenty years in and around the English Lake District, ten years in the Correze, southern France and nearly ten years here in East Lancashire. I’m a very traditional woodworker with a lot of experience.
My passion for wood and for working it- and for being creative in general- is built-in. As a young man I sought physical and constructive weekend and holiday work: Helping “Barney Rubble”- stone mason and local character- set carved headstones in beautiful, peaceful churchyards all around the English Lake District. Working alongside my Old Dad on his “family and friends” carpentry and odd-job projects. And apart from serving as a Royal Marine Commando and some sub-contracting early on in my carpentry journey I have very much run my own show- I prefer working directly with my great clients and having the satisfaction of sharing exciting and challenging project outcomes with them.

I specialise in hand-cut green oak porches. All of my work is genuinely bespoke- designed and cut just for you and to your taste- with classic proportions and detailing.
You can be sure of a dedicated personal service: I will design your porch to your satisfaction, prepare foundations, frame the walls and roof- and cut and hang a traditional slate covering on a solid rough-sawn timber roof deck.

Because of my preferred way of working I cut and raise a relatively small number of frames: I am hands-on, thorough and do a lot of the work myself. I choose to work with a smaller number of great clients on labour-intensive, interesting projects.
